Greetings,

Just in case you didn't know. Helio Gracie, the founder of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu died on January 29. 2009. I don't know if this is an acceptable post for this area of the forum but considering his impact on the MMA I thought it would be nice to make sure it was known.

A long, fruitful life. We should all be so fortunate, but also determined. His legacy lives on.

And you wanna talk about shape? That guy fought for hours on end.
RIP old man.

FYI for anyone not hip to this, but;
calling a martial artist old man is an honorific term.

he was an amazing man.

he learned traditional jiu-jitsu by watching his brother, Carlos, teach it, but his small frame made it difficult for him to execute the moves. As a result, he adapted techniques to fit his limited physical ability and gave rise to modern-day Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

there ya go: take a negative, adapt into a positive.
